Health & Safety

We consider Health & Safety to be one of the most important aspects of our business.

Broadoak continues to improve its Health & Safety performance year on year. Broadoak is building a culture that lives and breathes Health & Safety every day, a culture where putting safety first is second nature. We have a strong learning culture and we strive to ensure that all our employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform to the highest levels. The health, safety and well being of our employees is, and always will be, of paramount importance. All of our senior management receive ongoing training on construction related legislation and are committed to achieving the highest standards in Health & Safety. All site personnel are provided with the most up to date training so that they not only deliver the quality of workmanship our clients demand but also they ensure it is completed with minimum risk to Health & Safety and with a zero accident goal in mind.

Emma Sykes is our in-house Quality/H&S Manager. Emma has recently passed her Level 6 Diploma with Merit in Occupational Health & Safety through the British Safety Council. Other qualifications Emma has taken include the Nebosh Construction Certificate and SMTS through the CITB. Emma is a graduate member of IOSH and is working towards chartered membership, full member of the International Institution of Risk and Safety Management and member of the Chartered Institute of Builders.

In order to obtain advice and up to date information on all Health & Safety matters, Broadoak also retains the services of Principal Health & Safety Ltd. Principal Health & Safety have in excess of 24 years experience in leisure and retail construction and are members of the institution of Occupational Safety & Health and The Association for Project Safety. Their safety advisors make regular inspections of our sites, along with our in house Health & Safety Manager, to ensure that our site operations are carried out safely and in accordance with our company policy. Principal Health & Safety are advisors to management at all levels and their presence in no way relieves our management of responsibility. Through regular meetings, site visits and the annual company review, their advice and guidance is available to all company employees. Broadoak Construction are also members of the British Safety Council, and have achieved registration in Constructionline, CHAS, ISO9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001.

Broadoak also participate in the Considerate Constructors Scheme and have recently scored 37.5 out of a possible maximum score of 40 for their site at Queen Anne Chambers, Westminster that achieved the Bronze Award. Our Health & Safety record is second to none. Our commitment to Health & Safety is total and on-going.
